“This track was created after a discussion Asche and I had while working in the studio. We were talking about the seeming unwillingness of Christian bands to write more aggressively Christian songs. As this was during the same day we started Invocation, we set out to make it the most unapologetically Christian song lyrically on the record. The verses are based on Psalm 13. And the chorus is straight praise and worship.
Even though everyone pretty much buys single songs now, I still love it when an album is cohesive and I can listen to it from start to finish. I had a vision of this album being like that and ending with a really epic track, so we approached this song differently. The more basic chord structure and progression makes it a stand out in this album as the majority of the other songs have more complex compositions. We spent a lot of time playing with the builds, bringing in different synths at different times, and finally found the perfect blend we were hearing in our heads to convey the emotion we wanted the listener to experience. There was a lot of material to wade through for this album. We have been writing and demo-ing album 2 while still working on this one. We wanted to have a strong connection; a bridge to the next album from the first one. The very abrupt bridge section of Doxology is actually the melody and lyrics of one of the main songs on album 2. So listen close and get ready to sing along on your first play through of the next album!” – Tyler Moberly
lyrics
We call upon Your Name
You’re with us in this place
We offer up our praise
All for You
How long, oh Lord, will you forget me?
How long, oh Lord, will you hide from me?
Must I keep this sorrow in my soul?
Light my eyes up lest they see death
Lest they rejoice for I am shaken
Answer me, oh Lord my God!
You are my God
You are my everything
You are my God
I give You everything
I have trusted – Your love is faithful
My heart rejoices in Your salvation
I will sing to you, oh my King!
This world will hate You – They’ll rise against You
Through persecution, they’ll see Your glory
One day they’ll bow to you, oh my King!
I can feel You reaching out now
Take my life and make it Yours now
I can feel You reaching out now
Take my life and make it Yours
